This balance features a 21" channel length and is commonly identified by the 2040 or 20D stamp found on the original balance. All sash weight ratings are based on using two balances per movable sash.
For best performance, sash balances should always be replaced in pairs. Installing one new balance with one worn balance can create unequal spring tension, causing the window to bind within the frame and operate improperly.
Some balances include end caps with "wings," while others do not. Balances without wings are fully compatible with windows that originally used winged balances, making this replacement suitable for a wide range of window applications.
