This balance features a 28" channel length and is commonly identified by the 2740 or 27D stamp found on the original balance. All sash weight ratings are based on using two balances per movable sash.
For best performance, sash balances should always be replaced in pairs. Installing one new balance with one worn balance can create unequal spring tension, causing the window to bind within the frame and operate improperly.
